Market search · Foraging
Find the companieswhose problems you solve.
Foraging is the market search Hyves runs once it has researched your company. The first run launches on its own: about fifty companies, researched on twelve dimensions written for your product, ranked in about three hours. You get the ranking, the evidence behind every score, and a business case for the ones worth opening.

The run
Seven stages,one hand-over.
Each stage finishes before the next begins, and only what survives all seven reaches you. About three hours for fifty companies.
Write the rubric
Out of the research on your company come twelve dimensions, each with the evidence that earns a 0, a 1 or a 2.
Select
One query per market you sell into, in your buyer's words. Companies that look like you, your existing accounts and anything researched recently are left out.
Screen
A quick read of each company's website decides which ones are researched first.
Research
Eight web searches per company, plus five pages it always reads. Every dimension is scored with the evidence quoted, and weak ones get a second search.
Tier
Scores become tiers relative to the run, with floors that stop a strong total from hiding a make-or-break zero.
Build the case
Tier A and B companies get a dossier: why now, where you would land, and everyone involved.
Check
Likely false positives are flagged, and a quality gate reads the run before it reaches you.
The rubric
Twelve dimensions,written for your product.
The rubric comes out of the research on your company: what you sell, who buys it, and the signals that show a company needs it now. Each dimension is a question about a company in your market.
Evidence, written down first
Each dimension says what a 0, a 1 and a 2 look like on a careers page, in a review or in a register, before a single company is scored.
About your buyers, not about you
A dimension that could only be justified from your own marketing is thrown out.
Some count for more
Heavy dimensions weigh more in the total, and a zero on a make-or-break one keeps a company out of Tier A.
Tested on your customers
Before the first run spends anything, your existing customers are scored on the rubric. If they would not pass, the run pauses and asks you.

The evidence
Every scorequotes its source.
For every company, Hyves runs eight web searches and always reads five pages. Each dimension gets a 0, a 1 or a 2 with the evidence quoted next to it, so any score can be checked.
A 2 needs something you can count
Open roles, dates, locations, numbers. Anything less direct is worth a 1 at most.
Weak answers get a second look
A dimension scored low or not at all gets a follow-up search and a second score before the run moves on.
Unknown is not zero
When nothing is found, the dimension is named as unknown and left out of the total instead of dragging it down.
The ranking
Ranked within the run, then held to a bar.
A score only means something next to the others, so for any run of twenty or more companies the tiers are set within the run. Your own rules can boost, penalise or disqualify on top.
Tier A: about the top tenth
Above an absolute bar too. A zero on a make-or-break dimension, or no answer on a heavy one, drops a company to B.
Tier B: the next half
Worth a case. Tier A and B companies get a dossier.
Tier C: the next quarter
Kept on the map, not worked yet.
Tier D: the rest
A weak fit on today's evidence.

The checks
Checkedbefore it reaches you.
Your customers first
Before the first run spends anything, your existing customers are scored on the rubric. If they would not pass, the run pauses and asks you.
False positives flagged
Companies that scored well for the wrong reasons are looked for before the hand-over.
A gate on the report
The run's report is read before it reaches you. A blocking issue parks it for review, and anything unknown is named, never passed.
What it hands over
Tier A and B companies leave the run with a business case, and everyone inside who would benefit.
Questions
Fair questions.
How is this different from buying a list?
A list gives you names that match filters. Foraging starts from what you sell: it writes twelve dimensions for your product, researches every company against them, and quotes the evidence behind each score. You get a ranking you can check, and a business case for the companies worth opening.
Why search in my buyer's words instead of mine?
Companies describe themselves in their own language. A search written the way your buyers talk finds them; a search written the way you talk tends to find your competitors. Companies that look more like you than like your buyers are dropped.
What happens when evidence is missing?
It counts as unknown, never as zero, and it is left out of the total instead of dragging it down. Weak or unknown dimensions get a follow-up search and a second score before the run moves on.
Do I have to set it up?
No. The first run launches on its own after Hyves has researched your company, with the rubric it wrote for your product. It checks that rubric against your existing customers first and pauses for you if they would not pass.
Your first run startsthe day you sign in.
